GPS features mock drilling site in outdoor exhibits
CALGARY, Alberta -- For the first time ever, Calgary’s Global Petroleum Show this week featured “The Drilling Site Experience,” an attempt by show organizers to “bring the oil field to you.”
They said that they wanted attendees to get a true taste of the industry at work, by exploring a comprehensive mock drilling site. The site included a drilling rig, mud unit, shale shakers, wellhead and command center.
The mock site was set up and run by Calgary-based Ground Force Drilling, which featured a Schramm TXD Telemast drilling unit. Other companies featured in the overall Drilling Site Experience area included AltaFab, Calnash Trucking, Canadian Mats, Cubex, GenTex, Ground Force Drilling, Halliburton, Newterra, Secure Energy, Servagroup and United Safety.
Visitors were able to climb up onto the rig, check out the doghouse, and examine the various other pieces of equipment and modular operational buildings. Judging by the steady stream of interested attendees visiting the site, this set of displays is likely to become a permanent fixture at future Global Petroleum Shows.
