Introduction and Case History of a HPHT High-Performance Water-based Fluid in Tarim Basin, China

This presentation will cover the use of a high-performance water-based (HPWB) drilling fluid, densities ranging from 15.0 to 19.6 lbm/gal (1.8 to 2.35 kg/m3), capable of encountering hydrateable and sloughing shales, high downhole pressures and temperatures (HPHT), salt, gypsum, and torque.  Bottomhole temperatures are historically as high as 400°F (205°C) with the depth of the well at 22,765 ft (6939m).
