Lundin receives drilling consent for prospect in North Sea

STAVANGER, Norway -- Lundin Petroleum has received consent from Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to carry out exploration drilling of appraisal well 16/4-9 S in a prospect named Luno II, in the central North Sea, to investigate the discovery's potential.

Lundin is the operator for production licence PL 359 in blocks 16/1 and 16/4. The area is around 200 km west of Stavanger. Water depth at the site is 125 m.

The well will be drilled by Bredford Dolphin, which is a mobile drilling facility of the Aker H-3 type. The facility is registered in Singapore and classified by DNV GL.

Bredford Dolphin was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance by the PSA in June 2007.
