JX Nippon wins seven exploration blocks in UK North Sea

TOKYO, Japan -- JX Nippon Exploration and Production (UK), a wholly owned subsidiary of JX Nippon Oil and Gas Exploration Corporation has been provisionally awarded seven of the newly announced blocks in the UK Continental Shelf  28th Offshore Oil and Gas Licensing Round.

The awarded blocks lie on the central and northern part of the UK North Sea. The company already has participating interests in Andrew (producing asset) and Mariner (development asset), which are close to the awarded blocks.

Awarded Block 16/22c is located in the Central North Sea. JX Nippon UK and BP (operator) hold 30% and 70% particpating interest respectively.

The other six blocks viz. 8/9a, 8/10a, 8/14, 8/15b, 9/11f and 9/11g are located in the Northern North Sea. Statoil (operator), JX Nippon UK and Dyas hold 65.11%, 28.89% and 6.% particpating interest respectively.
