Applus+ awarded trio of contracts on Ichthys LNG project
BARCELONA, Spain -- Applus+, a global testing, inspection and certification company, through its division Applus+ RTD, has been awarded a trio of contracts worth about $17 million (AUS$22.5 million) for work on the Ichthys LNG project’s onshore LNG facilities.
The contracts were awarded by Laing O’Rourke Australia, Monadelphous Engineering Associates (MEA) and UGLKentz JV.
The contracts will see Applus+ RTD provide inspection engineering, asset integrity management and advanced non destructive testing (NDT) services on two LNG tanks, one LPG tank, one butane tank and two OBSL and ISBL mechanicals.
Applus+ RTD’s Rayscan Tankscan will be used throughout the three-year contracts, which is the first time the technology will be deployed in Australia, and only the second time worldwide. The system provides a digital radiographic inspection system that can complete a full inspection of LNG storage tanks in a single scan, producing a high-quality image of each weld.
The contract will also see Applus+ RTD provide maintenance for the anticipated 40-year life cycle of the plant, with an expected team of 60 working on the project at peak times, a combination of new and existing staff.
