Oildex promotes Michael Weiss to CTO
DENVER, Colorado -- Oildex, a service of Transzap, Inc., the largest cloud-based financial supply chain automation solution in the oil and gas industry, has announced the promotion of Michael Weiss to the newly created position of CTO.
Weiss previously served as the senior V.P. for products and technology at Oildex. As the company’s first CTO, Weiss’ responsibilities will expand to include the following key areas: software engineering, quality assurance, technical operations, development operations, database administration and product management. He will continue to report to Oildex President and CEO, Richard Slack.
Slack said, “With our recent acquisition, it became evident that we needed someone like Mike to lead our efforts to continually scale and innovate. This new CTO role allows him to be more instrumental in fulfilling Oildex’s vision to connect and automate the supply chain within oil and gas by providing unique customized solutions.”
Weiss has worked for more than 30 years in the oil and gas, software engineering and high-tech industries. In particular, he has significant experience in building and managing high-performance technology teams, both in his previous roles at Halliburton/Landmark, as well as with smaller, more entrepreneurial companies including Oildex.
Innovation
At Halliburton/Landmark, Weiss managed a global development team of approximately 200 software engineers involved in creating and maintaining nearly 80 different products that generated over $200 million of product revenue each year. Since then, Weiss has played key roles in smaller oil and gas technology companies—primarily within the enterprise resource planning and supply chain automation space.
Weiss, said, “I have worked for all different sized companies, but what I really like about Oildex is the pace and the ability to innovate quickly. I’m excited about the technology we are continually developing here and I’m proud to be part of the team.”
Weiss has worked as part of the Oildex team since 2012. He is also involved with the oil and gas industry outside of Oildex as an executive-at-large at PIDX International one of the oil and gas industry’s largest associations.
