Energy NL honors Flight 491 crash on 15-year anniversary of offshore tragedy

(WO) – Today marks 15 years since Flight 491 crashed in the waters off Newfoundland and Labrador, resulting in the loss of 17 of the 18 people on board. Energy NL remembers these individuals, the survivor, as well as the family and friends who lost a loved one on that tragic day.

“Flight 491 has had a lasting and far-reaching impact on our province and offshore industry. We know offshore Newfoundland and Labrador is a challenging environment and the anniversary of Flight 491 reminds us to be ever vigilant in our safety practices and training so this may never happen again. On behalf of Energy NL, I extend our deepest condolences to everyone impacted by this tragedy, especially the family and friends who lost a loved one and the crash survivor,” said Charlene Johnson, Energy NL CEO.

Energy NL asks everyone to remember those who lost their lives on that tragic day in 2009.
