Halliburton introduces GeoESP pumps for enhanced geothermal energy extraction
(WO) — Halliburton Company has recently unveiled GeoESP lifting pumps, a cutting-edge submersible borehole and surface pump technology tailored for geothermal energy applications. Developed by Summit ESP, a Halliburton service, these pumps aim to address crucial challenges related to fluid transport to the surface via electric submersible pumps (ESP).
GeoESP lifting pumps offer an efficient, secure, and adaptable solution, streamlining geothermal operations while boosting overall performance. Featuring a unique high-flow inlet design, the pumps safeguard against solids, reduce power consumption, and effectively combat scale formation. Capable of operating in temperatures up to 220°C (428°F), GeoESP lifting pumps endure extreme conditions to deliver sustained performance. The innovative design also resists scale, corrosion, and abrasion, ensuring durability across a broad operational spectrum. Moreover, GeoESP lifting pumps utilize standardized pump dimensions, allowing for swift customization to meet diverse geothermal well conditions.
In addition to GeoESP lifting pumps, Halliburton provides an advanced digital approach to geothermal well management. The Intelevate platform, driven by data science, empowers operators with real-time diagnostics and comprehensive visualizations of "smart" field data, thereby optimizing well operations, extending system run life, and reducing energy consumption.
Greg Schneider, Vice President of Artificial Lift at Halliburton, emphasized the company's commitment to leveraging decades of geothermal production expertise to enhance safety and efficiency amid the growing global focus on low carbon energy sources. He highlighted how GeoESP lifting pumps further minimize power usage and facilitate advancements in complex well designs.
Halliburton's introduction of the efficient, modular, and reliable GeoESP lifting pumps underscores its dedication to fostering a sustainable energy future through innovative, efficient, and safe solutions in the geothermal landscape.
