The consortium, including ExxonMobil, Hess and China’s CNOOC, is completing new wells in the deepwater Stabroek block at a record pace, with Guyana poised to become the second-largest oil producer in Latin America.

Exxon plans to drill two high-risk wells this year, Redmouth and Trumpetfish, and has hired Modec to build an FPSO vessel for their fifth project, Uaru. Additionally, a sixth project, Whiptail, has been sanctioned and is expected to begin production by the end of 2027, bringing total output capacity to 1.3 MMbpd.
