Subsea7 wins EPCI contract for UK North Sea Murlach project
(WO) — Subsea7 has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract by bp for the Murlach development, formerly known as the Skua field, located 240 kilometers (149 miles) east of Aberdeen in the UK North Sea.
The contract involves the design and installation of subsea pipelines and production systems. It marks the first deployment of OneSubsea’s standard vertical monobore tree systems in the region. This technology is expected to streamline the process by reducing drill rig usage through vessel deployment. The project will also include two vertical monobore trees, a 2-slot manifold, and associated topside controls.
Subsea7 will handle the installation of eight kilometers of rigid flowline and two flexible jumpers, linking the new flowline to the Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP) facility. Pipeline fabrication will take place at Subsea7’s Vigra spoolbase in Norway, with offshore work scheduled for 2025.
Olivier Blaringhem, CEO of Subsea Integration Alliance, highlighted that this marks the third fully integrated EPCI project with bp, underlining their continued collaboration in the UK North Sea market.
Hani El Kurd, senior vice president for Subsea7 UK and Global inspection, repair, and maintenance, noted the contract underscores Subsea Integration Alliance’s strong track record in delivering comprehensive subsea systems and their ongoing partnership with bp.
