Digitising Reality receives DNV approval for remote offshore inspections with drone-based surveillance

August 05, 2024

(WO) – Digitising Reality announced its recent approval by DNV for using Remote Inspection Techniques (RIT) for close-up survey of structures, in accordance with Class Programme DNV-CP-0623. This approval allows Digitising Reality to carry out inspections offshore as per DNV’s classification programs.

Digitising Reality continues to grow with this success largely attributed to its drone-based emission and surveillance offering and 3D asset surveys, which enhances the efficiency of mitigation and safety modeling for both on- and offshore assets, particularly within the energy and renewables sectors.

According to Fortune Business Insights, projections indicate significant growth in the use of drones within the energy and power industry, with market expectations reaching $685.2 million by 2032 from $251.2 million in 2024. This growth underscores the transformative impact of UAVs on maintenance and monitoring practices across the energy sector.

Drones can access challenging locations and gather high-quality data faster than traditional methods, eliminating the need for scaffolding, cranes, or rope access, and minimizing operational downtime.

This technology is particularly valuable for inspecting production facilities, offshore oil rigs, wind turbines, and pipelines, providing comprehensive and timely assessments while keeping personnel out of hazardous environments and underscoring the transformative impact of UAVs on maintenance and monitoring practices across the energy sector.

“The energy sector is rapidly incorporating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for inspections, emissions monitoring, and maintenance due to their ability to enhance safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness,” said Richard Welton, CEO of Digitising Reality. “

Being approved by DNV for RIT marks the next step in the growth of Digitising Reality and demonstrates our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to provide superior asset and infrastructure management solutions.”
