ZUG -- Transocean said that a subsidiary has awarded contracts to Keppel FELS Limited's shipyard in Singapore for the construction of five Super B 400 Bigfoot Class jackup drilling rigs. The first rig is expected to be delivered from the shipyard in the Q1 of 2016 and the remaining four jackups delivered at four-month intervals thereafter. The combined capital cost for the five rigs is estimated at under $1.2 billion, excluding capitalized interest, and includes the shipyard contracts; project management; all owner-furnished equipment; capital spares and inventory; and costs associated with operational readiness.

JOHANNESBURG (Bloomberg) -- Royal Dutch Shell, may drill off South Africa’s northwest coast next year after studying geological data from the area. The company, acquired 8,000 sq km of 3-D seismic data of the Orange Basin, Shell South Africa General Manager Jan Willem Eggink said in an interview in Johannesburg. The information is being processed and should be ready by December, he said.

The installed production capacity of the platforms amounts to 1 MMbbpd and the units coming on stream will be essential for the company to double its current production and achieve the target of 4.2 MMbopd for 2020.
