The Building of Edvard Grieg
February 23, 2015
The production platform for Edvard Grieg field has moved from the drawing board to reality, and is now beginning to resemble a real offshore platform. At present time more than 4,000 people are occupied with work on the Edvard Grieg development. The larger part can be found at Kvaerner’s yard at Stord where the topside is being assembled and at Aker Solutions yard in Egersund where the process module is being manufactured. Earlier this year the jacket was successfully delivered from Kvaerner Verdal and installed offshore at the field location, whilst the living quarter was delivered to the yard at Stord from Apply Leirvik. When the topside is assembled on to the jacket, the installation will have a total height of 257 metres, including the flare tower. The jacket weighs approximately 14,500 tons, and the topside 21,000 tons.
