MEKJARVIK, Norway -- Maersk Drilling has named the world’s largest jackup rig in a ceremony in Mekjarvik, Norway. The Maersk Interceptor, an ultra harsh environment jackup, is destined for Ivar Aasen field. Maersk Interceptor is the second in a series of four ultra harsh environment jack-up rigs to enter Maersk Drilling’s fleet. The four jackup rigs represent a total investment of $2.6bn.

Egdon Resources has announced the completion of drilling operations at the Burton on the Wolds-1 conventional exploration well in UK Onshore License PEDL201 in Leicestershire. The well was dry. The Burton on the Wolds-1 well was spudded on Oct. 18 and reached a total depth of 1,086 m on Oct. 28.
