KEITHVILLE, Louisiana -- Keithville Well Drilling Co. has purchased and accepted delivery of the Schramm T250XD, a new, land-based rig designed specifically for shale drilling. The company plans to immediately utilize the rig in the Haynesville shale of northwest Louisiana and East Texas.

ABERDEEN -- Wood Group Mustang has been awarded the pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) contract by Statoil for the proposed Snorre C tension leg platform (TLP) to be located on the Norwegian continental shelf. Work is being conducted by Wood Group Mustang and Wood Group Kenny and follows their completion of the feasibility phase of the project in 2013.

HOUSTON -- Baker Hughes has announced that the U.S. onshore well count for the third quarter 2014 was 9,566 wells, up 110 wells or 1% compared to second-quarter 2014. Compared to third-quarter 2013, the well count was up 491 wells or 5%.

HOUSTON -- Noble Energy plans to resume exploration drilling in the Falkland Islands in 2015 following the acquisition and evaluation of an extensive 3D seismic program over portions of the company's 10 million acre position. Noble Energy’s initial operated prospect has been named Humpback and is located in the Fitzroy sub-basin of the Southern Area License.

HOUSTON -- Caterpillar Oil & Gas has reported the sale of the 700th Cat Dynamic Gas Blending (DGB) kit for 3500 engines, the company’s industry-leading dual fuel technology for land drilling, production and well stimulation applications. Originally introduced to the market in 2012, the CARB certified Cat DGB retrofit kits have become the industry’s chosen dual fuel system, operating in global oilfields ranging from the U.S. to China. The 700th kit will be installed on a Cat 3512C land electric drive drilling module rated at 1045 ekW (1467 bhp) @ 1200 rpm.

HOUSTON -- Halliburton has signed long-term contracts with Petroamazonas to provide field development and project management, as well as drilling and completions services, across nine mature fields, including the Palo Azul, Lago Agrio and Victor Hugo Ruales fields. The contracts terms are 15 years plus a potential five-year extension. Halliburton plans to invest approximately $1 billion during the first five years to enhance oil recovery from existing wells and discover new hydrocarbon reserves.

EDINBURGH, Scotland -- Cairn Energy has reported that its FAN-1 exploration well, offshore Senegal, has discovered oil. The well, located in 1,427 m water depth and approximately 100 km offshore in the Sangomar Deep block, has reached a target depth of 4,927 m and was targeting multiple stacked deepwater fans.

HOUSTON (Bloomberg) -- Rigs targeting oil and natural gas in the U.S. declined by nine to 1,922, according to Baker Hughes Inc. Oil rigs dropped by one to 1,591, data posted on the company’s website show. The gas count fell by eight to 330, the Houston-based field services company said.
